8 Stratton Street
Client: WELPUT / Grafton Estates
A major refurbishment and extension of this handsome group of architecturally-important buildings in Mayfair. The Grade II listed 8 Stratton Street was fully refurbished, with the roof rebuilt and interiors sensitively restored and discreetly supplied with air conditioning. 9 Stratton Street was completely demolished and rebuilt as a contemporary but deferential neighbour to the adjacent listed building. Detailed and scaled to step the streetscape up from the smaller townhouses to the larger massing of 10 Stratton Street, the proposals were developed out of a comprehensive study of the local urban context. The diverse properties were integrated into a single, contemporary building with a backlands extension across the plot width. The freehold was sold upon completion as the headquarters of an international interior design practice.
