28 St George Street

This new office development, which enhances the character and appearance of the conservation area, is an exercise in historical design constructed using contemporary building techniques. Detailed historical research revealed evidence of the original composition and detailing of an early 18th century building on the site, adjoined by a slightly later townhouse. The design response was therefore a scholarly replica of the original facades to restore the character of the streetscape and, in particular, the setting of the adjacent St George’s Church. Internal finishes and detailing reflected the period language of the development and a BREEAM Very Good rating was awarded to this contemporary office accommodation. Our design was commended in The Georgian Awards.
