17-19 Nelson Road

Client: Greenwich Hospital

Over a number of years we have assisted Greenwich Hospital in upgrading their considerable property portfolio. Originally commissioned in the 1840s as a redevelopment of the medieval market, the income from these properties continues to support the Hospital’s charitable work. The older listed buildings in the portfolio were designed in the enlightened classical style by Joseph Kay circa 1840, and lie within the Greenwich World Heritage Site. At 17-19 Nelson Road the works included the sympathetic refurbishment of the upper floors, formerly used as offices, to create a range of single-floor and duplex apartments. Special attention was paid to an abundance of fine original features and the work undertaken whilst Jamie’s Italian was in occupation on the lower floors.
